Default New owner and a problem

Hello all,
My family recently purchased a new 2010 IS250 in Glacier frost mica color. Since it will be a daily driver and family car, it probably wont be modified in any way.
After a couple months of driving it, I noticed the drivers side headlight projector to be scratched. It is in the inside projector lens and not the outer housing. What do you guys think i should do? Car is still under warranty. Thanks for your reply.

UPDATE : Sept. 18, 2010

Dealer replaced headlight assembly free of charge. New headlight defect free.
Also, new pic of car added. I also got a free loaner car, HS250h. Very nice car, a bit slow though.

go warranty it than, thats only if they approve to change it. because it doesnt seem to be effecting the way you drive or the way light is put out.

You sound as though this is a normal thing. Is it? It just bothers me because its new and i thought new cars shouldnt have these problems even if they are little problems that wont effect my driving or the way the light is output.

What you can do is compare it to one of the cars they have on the showroom. If that doesn't have scratches then ask for a new one. You bought a new car... so you should have it in new condition. Point it out to them that this is a defect regardless.

BTW, how long was it when you bought the car? If it's less than a year, definitely ask them to replace or fix it.

You bought a luxury car, they should take care of you when it's their fault.

Thanks for the tip. I did compare it to the passanger side headlight and that side is clear.
The car was bought only a month and a half ago.

i agree, its a brand new car so it should be near flawless if not completely. you should have a 50K or 4 year warranty (whichever is first) so it should be covered i imagine. talk to the dealership..

Don't know how you took those pictures but it you opened up that watertight seal then you might have a problem explaining to them how you came to find the scratch. A new car should be...new. Don't settle for anything less haha. With this whole break/accelerator problem this past year I have a feeling they will be more interested in satisfying customers than normal. But definitely take it to a dealer and don't give in to their "it's normal ware and tare" attitude. My engine was burning rich one time and it caused my back bumper to become black around the exhausts. They said it's normal but I made them clean it up. You won't get in trouble for being a little stern

Good luck!

Pictures were taken without removing the outer housing. The headlight has not been touched. Just put the camera really close to the headlight.
Thanks everyone for the help. I will elt you know what they say.

Today I brought the car in to the dealer and you will be happy to hear that they will replace the whole headlight assembly free of charge due to factory defect.
So everyone, please check your projector lense to see if you have the same problem. Thank for everyones help in the matter.

I would not have thought that the warranty would cover this. Nice!

It's a defect inside the projector lense glass....

There is no reason why it shouldn't be covered...
