Default HELP! ISx50 Cold Start Rattle without Waranty!!

Please don't yell, searched but couldn't find solution!

Has anyone fixed cold start rattle noise without warantty? If so, what have you done to it? How much did it cost?

Went to lex dealership for pedal recall, SA and Cert Tech heard rattle noise but he said it is NOT a cam gear noise. They want $110 +++ for diag.

I know it's a work around, but I hear people have tried different types of oil (and more of it), and that "solves" the problem.

I just read whole thread about Engine cranking/startup noise (merged threads). Freaking long... lol
Anyhow, few members reported that noise went away after they switch to Syntethic oil.

Has anyone tried lucas oil stabilizer?
I have used m1 syntethic oils but noise is still there.

Also, notice noise comes back even if you had TSIB done(change cam gears).

The TSIB is only an interim solution, not a permanent fix.

Is that means most of IS owners will have to live with rattle noise if it occurs after warantty?

You are not confusing anyone. I do a fine job of confusing myself. But thanks anyway. *sigh*

Shouldn't the camshaft problem be covered by the 6 year/70,000 mile powertrain warranty? Or are you past that one too?

talked to my rep and he said purchase an extended warranty before doing the diag............he said the job to fix the rattle is pretty steep so the extended warranty is cheaper than getting the rattle fixed.......... wait a few months and then get the diag done..........once they put that something is wrong with the car out of warranty i dont think they will fix it when its in warranty.......
