Default New Product: VAIS Tech SL2iC

Hi all... I have a 2007 IS 250 with Nav (no ML), and was looking for a ipod interface, and came across the new SL2iC: http://www.vaistech.com/products/home.php

The interface looks awesome on the factory nav screen! I have a few questions though:

1. Will it work on the 2007?
2. Does it play video?
3. When will it be available?
4. Group buy???

Does anyone here know anything? I'd have posted on the VAISTECH forum, but my account's awaiting activation.

I've been on this product like white on rice ever since I saw it pop up on the VaisTech website a week or 2 ago. It looks like a very exciting product. Here's what VaisTech said when I asked for more details:

"SL2iC will first be released for 5th Gen Navi, then 3rd and 4th gen to follow. Anticipated retail price is $349.99. SL2iC will include native iPod interface and Video playback on the nav screen. iPod browsing will be done through the touch screen!

We are planning to release it in September of this year."

viking880:

1. Yes, it will work for the '06-'09 2IS since they all have the 5th Gen nav. Looks like '10 2IS's with their 6th Gen nav will be left out, for now.
2. Yes, you may need to do the hack or get an override module for video playback while the car is in motion, but those details aren't out yet.
3. As it says above, September.
4. I'm down.

Hmm this may be a good alternative to the NavTool I was considering. Anyone know if it gives you the option for DVD playback should I get a DVD player in the glove box?

^ I suspect not Jared, but what do I know. I just figured that's the niche the VML fills (http://www.vaistech.com/products/vml_products.php), while this product is a more simple iPod/iPhone centric device.

I wonder if there is an upgrade that can be done to the SL2Vi.... I mean the interface on that is not so great, this is much cleaner.

Thanks BROCIOUZ for all the info! If they can actually pull of an interface like that, this'd be the best nav/ipod/iphone implementation out there.

The price is a little steep, but it might be worth it.

Haha... I wish!

Infact, the dealer installed a vais ipod hookup in my car before selling it in 2006 (I got it preowned), but it doesn't work with my iphone 3g, and honestly i don't know which vais product it is

Gotta open up the dash I guess.

Can this work on non-nav? Will the installation be difficult?

For a non navi, you won't need this since you don't require dvd play back or new UI.

Just get a regular VAIS integration kit.

I hope not....I only bought my unit a year ago and I'd feel like I wasted ~$400.

It looks good, for the price, I might consider.
