I didn't buy the IS because I wanted a Lexus brand. I bought the IS because I like the IS.

Nah, I never said you can't take it to the toyota dealer, take it there if you want lol.

Meanwhile you can also pump with 89 octane cuz that can save you a few bucks too. Or pocket ketchup packets when you drop by BK so you don't have to buy it.

I don't understand why this argument comes up. If you justify Lexus oil changes too expensive since its Toyota parts and Toyota oil changes are cheaper. Why did you get a Lexus? Isn't Lexus just a car made by Toyota with a markup?

Actually Lexus is a subsidiary of Toyota, so yes Toyota made the ISx50.

What the? Hey are you one of those jersey boys with the blow out and fake tan? You sound like a pu$$y. I don't need to get my ***** fluffed while sitting back as some chick feeds me grapes in a waiting room. I just want service done on my car. It has been talked about many times on here that toyota will service our cars. I wouldn't have taken it there otherwise. Ill admit there could be times when the dealer is needed. But small things like brakes, oil, changes, and spark plugs could be done by a trusted local mechanic for half the price. Or yourself for ever cheaper

How is having someone who charges less to put the same oil in your car at all similar to putting an inferior product like lower octane gas in your car?

Your logic isnt very logical. No offense of course.

Imagine the sense of pride you'd obtain from doing this yourself as opposed to the sense of being taken advantage of when you pay a dealer to change your oil or do your brakes. Sure you'll get a little dirty but just wear an old t-shirt and keep the pink polo in the closet. THen with the money you can save you can buy a yellow polo to wear under the pink one so you can pop the collar getting that nice contrast

Hey if I can do it myself I would, but I don't got the tools or the time. I dont even know where to dispose of the oil. People who can do it themselves are not the same as the people who do it at Toyota dealer.

To me its the same thing, Lexus bits should be superior and the service and experience is superior so 30 bucks to me is a okay.

Hey flektone, you a guido too? Too bad I not even American or European in either nationality or ethnicity. I hope you got a hard on from all the name calling.

Like I said, if you want to do it at Toyota then go ahead. Don't have to justify yourself that you bought a Lexus and want to maintain it for a non Lexus price, last time I check Pontiac made rwd fast sedans, the reason why you choose Lexus over GM is the same reason why Lexus cost more.

It will take you half or less the time to do it yourself than to wait at the lexus dealer. It takes me about 15-20 minutes. You need:

Jack
Oil pan
Socket wrench
oil filter housing wrench
Oil
Oil filter
You can dispose of oil at any oil change shop or at any auto store like autozone or possibly even walmart. Often Free.

All of these will cost less than 1 oil change at lexus (minus the jack which you have). They do not use "lexus" oil. They do not use a "lexus" oil filter. They do not use "lexus" tools.

When i was first a dummy too and paying lexus to change my oil: The second time I had it changed, the O-ring for the filter housing got crimped and I had a garage floor full of oil later that day. A testament to the fact that the overpriced service is not always worth it. No one can maintain your car as well as you can if you take the time (in this case about 2 minutes) to learn how to do it.

What's worse? The kind of person who "pockets BK ketchup so they dont have to buy it," or someone who cant even squeeze the bottle they bought?

They let you dispose it for free? Just curious because last time I went to an indie shop to losen my lug nuts, I was charged 25 bucks. When I tried to dispose my tires, I was charged 15 bucks lol.

If its that simple then I might need to try it myself one day. Just gotta figure out how to jack my car up since all I have is a scissor jack and the car is too low for me to get under it normally.

Well of course; I meant under the Toyota name. Even though they are both owned by the same company, they are completely different.

My autozone let's me dispose of it for free as will lots of places because they dont want you dumping it down the sewer or something.

As far as too low: Go to lowes. Buy a couple long 2X6 (or so) boards. Cut one of them in half (they'll do it for you at the store) and nail half of one onto the longer one, making a "step." do it again with the other board. Then drive up on it to get more jack clearance. That'll cost you a few bucks as opposed to low profile ramps

The day I realized how much of a sham oil changes and brake jobs are (because they are so darn easy) I felt like I had voluntarily been kicked in the junk for so many years.

Who is your local dealer? because if they provide those services I'll have to reconsider doing things myself...
