Quick question about Ml system
Well my father bought me a is250 for graduation for getting into the school he wanted me to go to but he got me one without the ml system. Would i be able to bring it to lexus to get it installed? Does anyone have a rough estimate of the cost?
P.s it has nav and i have subs from my old car so it wont be a total waste of cash to get the system

The ML system is totally different from the regular IS audio system and isn't something you could simply add on (at least not cheaply). At this point, you're probably better off just installing a custom system, especially since you already have subs.
Are there actual different/ more speakers with the system?
This is upsetting
I'm not exactly sure how many speakers the standard system has, but ML equipped vehicles have a center channel and can play video DVD's on the nav screen while the car is in park. It also has a different amp.
just upgrade to comonents front and rear, and add a 12" to your trunk, unless your like me then add 2-12's. i dont care about ML because i did that stuff anyways. it's not like your basic system in the IS has paper cones anyway, pioneer makes them.

ML is 14 speakers, center channel, and 2 speakers in each rear door and 2 in the rear deck.
(plus different speakers in all spots and different amp... and if you got ML with nav it'd also swap the CD changer for a DVD changer)
You'd never want to add subwoofers from your old system to the Mark Levinson system, and not really to the stock system either. Both systems include subwoofers. They won't install the Mark Levinson system after the car is sold at the dealership.
The 13 speaker Pioneer system in the IS is very good, and you'll just clutter up the sound by putting subwoofers in the trunk like someone suggested. The trunk is acoustically isolated from the passenger compartment, unless you leave the pass through door open all the time.

which is what i did, and trust me, you can hear it loud and clear with it closed and better opened. no cluttering of sound, you just need to know how to tune amps to suit what speakers you are running.
The ML system utilizes different speakers and a different amp. The amp is one of the poorest designs that I've seen with regards to cooling and parts quality. Same goes for the speakers.

There are plenty of longevity problems with the ML system. A quick search will reveal blown speakers, subs, etc. And this is from people that listen to their system at a moderate level.
