Rodent problem
My engine light was on and I took it to the dealer this morning to have it checked out.
The dealer found the cause and sent me these pictures...
Seems like a rodent has gotten in the engine and chewed up the insulation and the wiring.
The car is garaged at home and at work. It is only parked outside when I go to my girlfriend's house.
Dealer quoted me $450 to repair.... just under my $500 insurance deductible

I recently read an article about rodents nesting in garaged cars and destroying cars by eating through the insulation and wiring. According to the article, this usually occurs in garages where pet food is stored because it attracts the rodents. For those of you, like me, who store their pet food in the garage the article suggests that such food be stored in sealable containers. By the way, the poster here is fortunate that the damage was so limited because these animals can, literally, destroy a car.
If I were you I would CLEAN every inch of your garage. Some people are extremely messy, I'm not saying you are.
If I were you I would clean up your garage to prevent this from happening again. If you dont do anything about it now its just a matter of time from it happening again.
