How can you tell if a is250 is awd or rwd?

It has a badge in the back that says 'AWD' if it is AWD.

well it probably also sits higher than a rwd would...but without comparison there's no way to tell

i usually can tell if its awd or not. but it does take a little while to notice the ride height. other than that its hard to tell

I think all AWD IS250's come with the 17in wheels at least in the USA, sit higher, have the AWD badge. You can also check the VIN...thats all I can think of...

right side of driver cockpit is very cramped due to AWD (I believe). That is why when you buy a car mat, you have to specify if it is a AWD. Right side by your foot is a large bulge inwards.

Im an AWD'er and ther is a bulge! so this same area is different in the rwd's?

..dang I'm a big guy too, I could use some extra leg space

I think the 350 also has that huge bulge... if I remember correctly when I drove it..

Doesn't AWD only come with one size for all tires? I'm not sure 250 has bigger width rear tires.

17s on the AWD are the same front/rear. on the RWD, the rears are wider. 225/45/17 255/45/17 IIRC

It doesn't. Go to www.mats.com, and look at the floor mats--different driver's mat for RWD vs AWD.
