i had my side moldings with clips replaced last year and recently I noticed I hear a whistling noise and I can't figure it out. Friend of mine told me my windshield needs to be taken off and remolded, wanted to get some input here b4 i take further action. Top right side of the windshield I see almost like 4-5 bubbles, I will take a pic today to show everyone.

Did you sign-in to get the CL discount? if so and it really is $127, maybe prices just went up. Try calling your dealership with the parts numbers to see if they're any cheaper.

you could try removing the molding and then adding some clear silicone to the area. Once it has dried you can clip the molding back on.

That sucks. I'm doing mine later today and my windshield has also been replaced. Hopefully I don't run into something like this.

I would have pulled as much off by hand as possible and then used a razor blade to cut the rest off the glass. Pliers are probably a bad idea, but you've already learned that.

Not one piece could be pulled out my hand, i was having to pull so hard it was moving my car. Took about 2 hrs to fully get eveything out, then about another 30min to remove all the glue.
Not sure they why or how it was like this, just know all the other pic I see of replacements dont have this.
Going to ask the guys replacing my windshield monday about it.

Well then only the razor blade part, lol.

It's hard enough to get the mouldings off without breaking them when there is no excess adhesive. If they broke some of the clips when they were replacing the windshield last time, and used some adhesive to hold the mouldings down instead of replacing them and/or the clips.

Once you get to that point it would have taken quite a bit of work to clean it all up to fix the mouldings. :\

I'm sure the windshield place will be able to cut it all out and clean it up for you.

Check out my other thread for what it should look like when done correctly: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ld-myself.html

If your car is under 50K miles or under warranty, Lexus will replace them for free.

My replacement went smoothly. Another member and I got through the entire thing in about 20-30 minutes. One side of the car had a bit of dried out adhesive that we removed with a razor but it wasn't anything difficult.

Just replaced my molding today and it was quite challenging. The hardest part out of all this was removing the clips from the car. I put various scratches on the paint near the molding. So two pieces of advice to if you want to this: using painter's tape to avoid scratches and a paint can opener to remove the clips. I had to sanded down the paint can opener with sand paper but it made the job very easy.

Default DIY windshield trim

Like a lot of you my windshield molding was cracked and looking terrible. I bought everything from Sewell parts. All I used was needle nose pliers and a cleaning cloth. The hardest part is pulling out the tabs if you have never done this. I didn't want to break or bust anything but after I replaced the first one, the second trim took 10 minutes. You may have to pull on the tabs hard to get them out and they may break or chip but they eventually pop out. Just make sure you remove all the gunk surrounding the tabs because it makes it simple to pull them out. I hope this helps someone that needs this done. Not hard at all to do and anyone can do this.

Wow! That looks horrible. Mine looks perfectly fine except it's popping out because I think the clip was broken when my fender was backed into. How long until your trim started looking like that?
