good to know our cars are galvanized 
i am pretty sure not all cars are zinc plated, i have heard horrible story on mazda 3 having tons of rust after 3-4 years of ownership.

OK, the breakdown on rust prevention, from an Ex-Toyota body engineer:
Most portions of the floor and side panels are NOT galvanized steel. Support members along the trans tunnel, in the b- and c-pillars, and the roof are (the high-strength panels).
However, once they go to paint at the factory, they get a rust-preventative e-coat (electro-deposition), which is the stuff that gives you the 7-year corrosion protection warranty. After this the underbody gets asphalt coating for NVH and additional protection. Primer, paint, clear, etc., and you're good to go.

Thats good to know from somebody who work for toyota.
thats why Audi has 10 years on their rust warranty.

so would you still suggest rust proof? or at least after the 7 years?
