Default iPhone ashtray integration solution....maybe

I found something pretty interesting in maybe integrating our iPhones into the ashtray area of our IS`s.

Maybe if enough of us inquire about this they might make a custom dock for our cars and maybe even have a group buy price for us. Check it out, would turn our useless ashtrays to something better.

It seems spendy if all it is a dock, and you have to hook it up to some kind of existing IPOD integrated solution (Vaistech, etc.), but it is pretty cool.

Since I couldn't drive to Atlanta to have them measure my car, I had them ship me the parts for me to measure. The plan is for me to send them back my ashtray insert and the dock parts and cable they sent me for them to create the mold for the insert. The part I have to measure is the angle for the iPhone/iPod to make sure it will fit at a slight angle and not lay against the console/dash. So far it does. The thing that might be tight is the fat 120gb iPod as it is much thicker and probably will want to touch the console.

I am currently waiting on a new cable as the first one they sent caused my Vais to have a lot of static/feedback that isn't there without their cable. It really isn't their fault either as the cable was from another manufacturer and was still in it's original package. They had not tried their cables (either manufacturer) with a Vais unit yet so I wanted to make sure the video will continue to work before we went any farther.
I'm *very* excited to hear your results! Please keep us up to date!

The good news is that I got the 2nd cable in today and so far I have not heard any feedback when using it. The next step is to start the measurements and pictures to document how it needs to all fit.

a little off topic.....but does anyone know of a good Iphone charger that can fit in the armrest power source since there's limited space and we would need something that bends 90 degrees

I'm excited to hear your results. If you need any assistance (which I doubt you will since you have the samples, etc.), please let me know.

Thanks,
Tony

Any update on this yet? I noticed they don't have a product for the IS350 yet. I would love that ashtray adapter. :-)
