Question Lexus Newbie with Questions

First-time Lexus owner here ('09 IS 250), trying to learn about the car.

1. Where is the emergency gas tank door release? Manual appears to say behind plastic cap on left side of trunk, but all I find there is a white plastic tube.

2. How do you visually check the coolant level? Looks like removing the front engine cover won't help.

3. How do you remove the center engine cover (the one over the motor)?

4. How do you put the car in neutral without starting it?

5. What's the switch/sensor in the spare tire compartment, at about 10-11:00 relative to the tire?

6. What's that piece of equipment in the trunk under the right storage bin?

tx,

Ed

1. I found a plastic white tube there as well...
2. Not sure myself, must be in the manuel.
3. Just pull it straight up from the corner. Your not going to break anything.
4. Dont know...
5. Have no idea.
6. That would be your amplifier (for speakers).

Had a Lexus tech show me. It's a small lever and you can't see it. You can feel it if you stick your index finger up about 2" to the left of the white plastic tube. Once you have it, pull it towards the rear of the car.

Did you buy this from a private party or a dealer. They Lexus Dealer should have gone over everthing with you. Don't be afraid to ask....you pay good money.

Tx, didn't know about any of this stuff until I read manual/started snooping around. They did go over all the other basics, but yeah, they prob. shoulda showed me where that release lever is and how to put it in neutral.

Like I said, you pay good money. Ask them about EVERYTHING. Most dealers out by me, are really helpfull. Even if you feel embarrassed about asking things. That's the only way you learn. And I honestly feel that's what you pay for.

That's the proximity sensor for the trunk when you push the button on the trunk to open it.
