Default Nav Display at night (evening mode)

I just picked up our new '09 IS350, (Obsidian and black interior), this past Friday. I noticed that when the exterior lights come on at night the display on the navigation remains bright (daytime mode). Is it not supposed to automatically change the color of the display, (evening mode), so that it does not blind the driver? My '07 4Runner Nav does this automatically.

iKenn is right. Your backlit brightness is set to Max. Turn it lower and it will switch.

Thanks for the quick responses. The nav on my truck had the setting built into it and I was looking for it last night and could not find it so I just turned the display off while driving. I guess I should read the manual huh......

Thanks again,
George

it if it like the older models. you don't turn the brightness **** to where it clicks bc that's full time bright. you just move it to right before the click.

There's also a setting on the "Display" settings for the nav for "Day Mode". This will keep the screen bright, but not the IP lites.

That's the setting I was looking for, but it's not available on mine. I see it in my truck, but not the car.

You can't access it during the day--only when it's dimmed to night mode.

There really should be an opposite setting--keeping it in night mode.

My solution is to turn it off, especially at night, when I'm on roads I know.
