Smile Lexus Gave me Gas

No--this is not a follow-up to the "Do you fart in your Lexus?" thread.

Just got my IS back from service and recall repairs--they filled up my gas tank! They never did that previously--it was probably about 1/4 tank down. I'm very impressed, given recent talk of dealers limiting loaner services due to the economy.

They gave you left over gas. They probably took your car for test ride and had to fill her back up.
But some people say that the dealer only use regular gas...so if you picky on your quality of fuel...

Well, you would notice if they did take it out for a joy ride because the documents state the mileage when they took the car in and the mileage it left with.

1/4 tank of 87 really wouldn't bother me

We had a some members vehicles had 50+ miles gain when they pick up their vehicle.

The gas is part of the service at some dealer.

i find it funny the drivers manual says that if you get 87 octane in your car, tow it to a service center and have everything drained.... yet the dealerships are putting it into the car?

Do you have a page reference to that section? I definitely want to take a look at that--it would end countless CL debates on gas.

One of the recalls supposedly requires they get rid of the gas in the vehicle at the time (presumably the fuel line one), hence they fill it up with fresh gas after doing the work.

And I doubt they're using 87. Mine certainly doesn't, even for the free tank you get on purchase, let alone during a recall.

That's the recall they did. Darn--thought it was a new policy.

I know for a fact that we put in 91 gasoline at the dealership I work at. I was given access to fill up gas for Service Campaign cars because our designated gas-getters are so backed up, that I would help. I know our protocol is always using 91 gasoline, and that is the grade that I have been putting in, just to reassure you. The Dealership gets reimbursed by Lexus Factory, so that's why the Dealerships should not mind getting the higher grade gas.
