Default iPod Video Playback

Hi,

I'm very new to this and wanted to know if iPod Video Playback was enabled with the override kit offered by Prestigious Society somehow. I have the integration kit that was installed by the Lexus Dealer. If I get this override kit will I be able to playback video through my Nav system? I don't have an ML system but like I said I have the iPod integration kit. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure you need the VAIS unit to do video from your iPod. I had gotten a lot of advice over on this thread http://my.is/forums/f159/lexus-ipod-...ml#post5681368

According to Knightshade's post here in that thread, you should be able to get video iPod to show up on your non-nav ML screen. I myself just got a 2008 IS 350 w/ Nav, but no ML and will be buying the VAIStech sl2vi.php: http://www.vaistech.com/sl2vi.php

I should be able to watch videos off my iPod Touch with this

I have the iPod video kit and the NAV override kit. My NAV is NOT a ML. Works fine for me.

Can you control your videos from your touchscreen or do you have to control it from your iPod? Using the SL2Vi, that is.

you can play ipod/iphone video on your nav screen whether you have ML or non-ML. I just did the install over the weekend (non-ML) and it works just fine. The unit you'll need is the VAIStech sl2vi. In conjunction with that you'll have to do the "Nav hack" or buy the plug and play kit sold by folks on this forum. if you do the nav hack, you'll have to ground the e-brake wire for video while driving.

I myself just encountered the black and white issue with my iPod Touch 2g 32gb and my 2008 Lexus IS 350 with Navi, No ML.

I bought my car new in January and a few months after put the Sl2vi in. But I had not done the navi hacks yet so (since I had to be parked w/ emergency brake on) I watched very little video here and there - mainly to show off the capability to friends. It was working fine.

Well I finally got around to doing the navi hacks so that I can watch video on the go. But now after not even an hour of constantly watching, the screen is black and white. If I switch around, it will be color for a second and then go back to B&W. I called VAIS and apparently it's an iPod Touch 2g thing. Now I don't know what to do. I have a 32gb iPod Touch 2g which was quite a bit of money. I really don't want to have to replace it w/ a 3g one when it rolls out - if that even solves the problem.

the person I called at VAIS's tech support (Mike) made it seem like it was always there so I'm not sure it has to do w/ the iPod Touch's latest firmware. but I did update recently for $9.99.

I feel a bit misled because I remember in my PMs and the group buy forum I did say what I had and I don't believe vaistech gave me a heads up. but if it is an iPod Touch 2g thing, then maybe no other iPod interface would work so I'd be screwed regardless.

Any chance you can try a different iPod model with your set up?

We have seen this before and it's a combination of iPod and the car display that causes this problem. We are not able to fix it because it randomly happens on certain cars with certain serial numbers of iPod Touch. If you try different iPod and it works in color then I think it points to the problem device in this chain NAV screen--SL2Vi--iPod
