I just installed this in my 2008 IS350 with ML.

I am only getting a black/white picture and NO AUDIO! the ipod ( 160gb classic) audio works but the video audio doesn't. i cant figure out whats worng.

Has anybody got this to work in their 2008 IS350 with ML???

nope. the video settings on the ipod are set to out. I just dont think its comapatible with my year of car ( 2008 is350 w/ ML ).

i hooked up everything correctly as per the instructions given. I get audio through the ipod. everything works but i get no sound through the car when playing video from my ipod.

I guess nobody has gotten the SLVI2-P4 package to work with their 2008 is350 with ML......

This blows, now i have to return this and just settle with only the ipod interface with out video....

I'm wondering if you've contacted VAIStech about your issue? it's entirely possible you just got a bad unit, or didn't wire something exactly right during your install. The unit in question is certainly certified to work with a 2008 IS and with your specific ipod, so that's not the issue.

so i contacted VAIS and they said that with my year of vehicle (2008 is350 w/ML) that it isn't compatible. So anybody with that year and model, i wouldn't buy it.

They said something about my amplifier in my car not being able to accept a dual video source???? so they said to send it back and they will send me the ipod interface with out the video. All this after i pull apart my whole dash and nav unit. I am actually driving around with my dash in pieces. what crap!

Did you ask em why their own website explicitly lists your car as supported?

Actually, during one of the group buy threads the rep from VAIS tech -also- explicitly said it works with a 2008 with ML to play video when the user Rebs asked about it...

(he does later clarify the -4 unit is required if you have DVD (ML))

EDIT- I PMed the VAIS rep on the forum and pointed him at your post, might want to give him a chance to respond just in case their app chart isn't wrong and the guy you called was.

It's possible the guy you spoke with was misinformed, or if not at least the on-forum rep can correct their official posted information so other folks don't run into the problem in the future.

I did ask about the compatibility as Kurtz mentioned, and was told it was compatible, so I'll be interested in hearing what you find out (if you choose to follow-up with them again) because this seems very odd (i.e. conflicting information).

I can completely understand why you would be upset...I would be too!

All of our products are fully compatible with '08 IS 250/350. We have had a few SL2Vi installed on this year model with and without Mark Levinson package.

Our tech probably just misunderstood you and misinformed by saying that this car isn't compatible. We are having problems with some of the LS460 with Mark Levinson package with SL2Vi unit, but not with IS 250/350.

As far as black and white image on your display, it's a combination of iPod and the car display that causes this problem. We are not able to fix it because it randomly happens on certain cars with certain serial numbers of iPod Touch. We have had 6 cars throughout US that it happens on so far.

Have you ever had anything exchanged in your Lexus by Lexus dealer? Radio, Amp and etc?

Is it just the iPod Touch? The original poster (if I understand him correctly) has an IPod Classic?

We have only seen it with the Touch.
