i am trying to black out my tail lights for my car and i was wondering.. if i should do red out first and then do the black out. or does it look better with just doing the black out?

Personally, I prefer red-outs over black-outs. . .but if you're going to black it out anyways, I don't see the point of doing the red-outs first. Unless if you're going for a smoke efffect/lighter dark tint and you want some of the red to show through . .then it's not really worth it.

black out only...the red out will make the contrast too dark at the turn signal section. IMO

If you want red turn signals just replace the bulbs with red ones, that's what I did. After you blackout the tail lights you it looks like the car was made with red turn signals.

Do redouts then smoke it with the lighter overlay. Not the darker kind.
And also, changing the bulb to red won't make a difference since the taillight lens is orange. Unless you have the IS-F tail lights.

Actually because red and amber are similar colors very little of the light from a red bulb is filtered out by the amber lens of tail light.

Neither. They use all vinyl films.

Yeah, it would if you go with a light smoke tint.
