Default Painted Brake Calipers...A year later.

Hey guys am unsure about painting my front caliper I had my car since Feb of 2007 and it has about 20K, basically I don't want the calipers paint to start chipping after a while. Can you guys post any pics of your calipers that have been painted for over a year? and any info on painting tips (i.e. primer, what type of paint, coats, etc.) And how long you had them painted for.

Well, I painted my IS300 calipers and that last for 7 years. I used G2 caliper paint. Just make sure you thoroughly clean the brakes. I just sat there and sprayed brake cleaner on them and then used a wire brush.

On my IS350, I've had them painted for 6 months with Duplicolor caliper paint. No issues yet.

The only time I found chipping to occur is when the wheels are removed. If you aren't careful, it's easy to chip them.

People have been doing this mod forever, its fine, go for it.

Mine is still pretty good after a year.. Only a few sand size chipping because I used a brush to scrub it...T__T.. stupid me... But I was wondering how people clean it?? Mine is just not as red as before.. more like dark red rather than bright red.. Thanks!

I painted mine on a MAzda 6 and did not give them a engine enamel coat and they started chipping after a year.
I did mine on my IS350 and the enamel seems to be what keeps it together.
to me they key is cleaning them well and giving them a CLEAR COAT OF 500 degree ENGINE ENAMEL. then to clean them while they r painted, just spray some wheel cleaner let sit for 2 minutes and hose off.

I also used the G2 caliper paint, that I purchased at tirerack.com. It has been 5 years since I painted the calipers on an RX300 and ES300 and they both still look fine.

one good thing about using a 'standard' kit *dupli/g2* is that if you chip it by removing your rims and such you'll be able to get new paint easily to touch it up. To clean the painted brakes i just use a damp microfiber towel.

I'm thinking of painting the calipers too.
For some reason, I got some bits of rust on it.
Just wondering, when using wire brush, wouldn't this cause some scratch marks on the calipers which might show after painting it?
