Default HUGE crack!!!

I was driving home from work yesterday when debris under a slow a$$ Prius in front of me hit my windshield.

Glendale Lexus is charging the following for the repair:
$1026 windshield
$285 molding
$48 rain sensing tape
$350 installation
= $1709

Any suggestions on how to get this repaired and minimize my cost?

dont go to the dealer. Dont you have insurance that covers this? Try someone like safelite.

Most dealers sub the work out to local glass shops. I had the winsheild in my RX300 replaced for $200 including molding, and a couple of additional installation parts. Didn't even consider going to the dealer.

Same $#!* happened to my one month old GS.. I was steamed..

Insurance paid for the whole thing.. I was told I had to wait a week because they have no choice but to use an OE Lexus windshield.

your insurance company will contact a local shop to replace the windshield. if you dont fee like messing with insurance just give a few shops a call and see what they quote you. this is what insurance is for though!!

Yeh don't go through the dealership.
Fortunately us NE people get up to 3 free replacment windshields a year due to rocks and stuff.

I say go through your insurance company.

Wow that must have been some massive debris that hit your windshield. Try your insurance first. Since you have rain sensors, I think you are going to have to replace it with another OEM windshield??

Most insurance companys offer a lower deduction for glass and body ding repairs. Do what a lot of people are saying here, call insurance first!

Thanx to everyone that replied! I contacted my insurance company. I'm paying my deductible of $250 to get this taken care of.

They reffered me to 2 companies to get this repaired: Satellite Auto Glass and All Star Glass. Does anybody have experience with either of these companies? Can anybody make a recommendation between the two.

Little E . . . I do have rain sensors on my windshield. When I get my new windshield it better work properly. Then again it rarely rains here SoCal, so I wouldn't need it anyways.

Well in my neck of the woods (Bakersfield, CA), All Star Glass is great! Can't vouch for their another locations in California though.

Did you mean Safelite? That is the company i used and they are statewide in california. They were great came out to replace it in 30 mins. Even ordered the OEM glass. Let them know you have a rain sensor, they looked up my vin and for some reason ordered the with a rain sensor but mine didnt have it.

It never rains where LittleE is at either! Just kidding doesnt rain in central cali either

Safelite warehouse is located in bakersfield.
