I dont think the IS is a fast car but its not a performance car either. There is faster and slower cars out there. so long you are happy with all it offers that is all that matters.
I took in my Is for the 1000 mile optional check up and they gave me an IS250 Automatic. and hehehe I plugged my vector Fx to it and did 2 runs only 0-60
I got 8.0 and 7.8.
It was like 95 outside so im sure with coller weather that ATX can go down to mid 7's from 0-60
yea, but I did the personalized setting and they Installed my intake all together so it took 2-3 hours. The guy that i bought the car from hooked me up with a 250 so i could go to the mall or something and not have to sit and look at the beautiful BLUE IS F they had in the showroom for 3 hours. hehe
I'd hesitate to say "fast" since we live in a time where grocery getting family sedans are pulling low 15s in the quarter. I can say "peppy" or "sporty" with a straight face.
Basically, good for everyday, not embarrassing. And never disappointing if you have the right context. Stomp on it in a Z06/IS-F/M3, and the 250 will feel like it's standing still.
fast is too relative. it's got enough power and cornering abilities to make your drive fun. that's how i put it. and you can beat many cars on the road and be beat by many cars on the road. it's all relative. i decided with the 250awd since it saves me gas, great in snow and i can always buy a used civic and tune it to beat M3's and IS-F's. not that i'd go and get a civic but i'd probably get a used evo or sti and have fun with it.
It's only peak power. The actual powerband of the car is almost the same and its quite a bit heavier as well. Notice how high the peak power and peak torque occur compared to the IS350. At the same RPM chances are the IS makes more power/torque.

The IS250 is about as quick and fast as a Scion tC. That's why I didn't consider it. I already had two of those. I was a lot more interested in quicker, faster, and about the same gas mileage, so I got the 350.
Still, the 250 isn't a slouch. The instructors at the Lexus driving academy were driving the 250 on the lead/follow and they were having no trouble making it difficult to keep up even with twice the power in the IS-F. There's a lot to be said for the nut behind the wheel being the most important part in any car.
Lexus IS 250 is actually faster than scion tc. I burned a scion tc with no problem in a drag race.
Well Lexus IS 250 is fast enough to burn some modified Honda Civics. You can have a good race with someone who owns Acura TSX , Acura RSX, and BMW 328.

Must have been an auto or someone who can't drive stick. They're totally a driver's race against a manual tC.
I was kinda in the same boat as lobuxracer, I was coming from a integra ls-non vtec sedan which I supercharged with a jackson racing supercharger added an aem intake and jdm oem exhaust (high 14's in the 1/4) and could not see myself downgrading on the power I had, so I opted for the 350 as well. I miss the stick, but the power and knowing i can pull a mid 13 second quarter mile almost makes up for it.
