i had a blackberry 7250 that didnt transfer names. i now have a blackberry 8830 that transferred all names. depends on the phone. on the BB 8830, there is an option for send address book; i selected this and then selected the option on the IS and it went perfectly. Pretty quick too.

I have BB Curve. Transferred fine. This is for BB Curve, should be same for all BB.
After connecting your phone to ur car via BT, open the bluetooth section of ur phone.
[ Set up Bluetooth ]
It should be searching for new devices.
Cancel if you are already connected.
Scroll down to your "Paired Devices"
in this case i have named mine "IS 350"
left click or "OPTIONS" click and you will see the following options:
HELP
DISABLE BLUETOOTH
DISCONNECT
ADD DEVICE
DELETE DEVICE
DEVICE PROPERTIES
TRANSFER ADDRESS BOOK
OPTIONS
SWITCH APPLICATION
CLOSE.
Self explanatory.
Go to Transfer Address Book and select.
It will say "Waiting for IS 350"
Something will pop up on IS Screen allowing connection or to accept incoming transfer. Click ok or Accept on the Nav.
It may "Freeze" for maybe 30 sec or a min depending on the size of your address book.
BE PATIENT.
after awhile it will say "TRANSFER COMPLETED" or something similar.
There you have it.
Do not quote me on the " " parts. I am guessing but the words should be something similar. but Yes, it does transfer.
You can then set speedials or voice dials.
Note: Caller ID will not show up when ur number is entered certain ways.
I believe on the phone it says 888-888-8888. On the IS it must be 1-888-888-8888 in order to show up.
Again, please play around. Mine shows up sometimes and other times doesnt. I havent really debugged it to see which one.
But i know that incoming calls show up with a "1" on the front.
PM Me if you have questions, will try and help.
Cheers,
J

I've got the blackberry 8830, and I was able to transfer all my contacts ... on lexus go to you phone ... and there is an area for contact transfer (not sure the actual name) ... on BB8830 there was an option in the bluetooth settings for phone data transfer, and in 10 secs (I have about 150 contacts) they were all in the lexus ... Hope this helps.

i had a bunch of new ones so i tried to redownload. i noticed you couldnt really update - just add (which duplicates names) or overwrite (which is what i did).
transfer succesful - but only about 120 or 360 contacts transferred.
if you look at the # of contact positions free, it shows about 360n were transferred... but only 120 are on the list.
any ideas?

Cannot transfer your contacts from the iPhone via Bluetooth.....How much is it worth to you? Do you have an old cell phone laying around? You could transfer your contacts to that old phone by connecting it to your computer (after you have imported them from your iPhone ) and then using th eold phone to transfer to the Lexus....I plan to do that with my old Blackberry...I have really yet to see the advantage of having my contacts in my car.....

transfer of phonebook
At first I had trouble transferring my phonebook information as well, but then I found out when your car is saying start transfer you have to go onto your phone book on your phone choose the group or numbers you want to transfer, click on Share and go to Bluetooth. Then share it with Bluetooth and it will start the transfer. I forgot to mention that I have an 06 IS350 and my phone is an android Lg 3.
