The only thing I don't like is the green digital clock which I'm not sure about

 

I haven't seen the window controls on the 09 yet, so I'm not sure, but based on the pictures posted thus far, the buttons are in different positions, which makes swapping OEM trims between 06-08 and 09 impossible. I saw the car exterior at the recent Lexus Showcase. Looks ok, but really only those who care to look would notice the differences when viewed from the front or sides.

 

Grey wood trim is hot!!! I wonder if Sewell can offer the Greywood trim kit.

 

i have an 06. if i were to choose between 06 and 09 i would probably flip a coin.

exterior: very subtle, you wnat really notice unless you look. wheels - the ones shown are a bit off, it will be interesting to see wht the otehrs look like.

interior: nav buttons offer a cleaner look. door switches - not much difference. rotary dial for sunroof - i liked the old one, but wouldnt care if i had the new one. i usually push to open and push to close, agreed that to use the wheel to go to different positions probably annoying. the contrasting butoons - probably more user friendly, but i do prefer the old style.

overall, i am happy with the changes, because it doesnt make mine look outdated. the changes are subtle - you really need to look at one vs the other closely to see what is going on.

 

A lot of people who complains about new cars have no intention of buying nor have money to buy them.

People with opinions are not haters. Not every change is always good, look how the original Ford Mustang was updated over the years until it became irrelevant and lost its original target market. The '09 changes on the IS are subtle, some are good and some are questionable, imo. Those opinions are what the thread is all about. Just because I'm not going to buy an '09 doesn't mean I can't give an opinion. And no, I'm not 'just mad' at the changes. Calling everyone a retard and a dork doesn't advance the discussion. It's a discussion forum after all.

This is a discussion forum. If you don't like the expression of other people's opinions, then maybe you should leave. No one's sitting here bashing anything inappropriately in this thread other than you.

Just because people don't like the changes doesn't mean they're haters.

Two things you need to understand:

1. Most people in this thread aren't just throwing out opinions without any attachment to the car. Most of us own a 2006-2008 IS, and have something to practically contrast to the refresh.

2. Most people in this thread aren't happy about most of the changes, with particular emphasis on the tail lights and front grill. So you're in the minority. Deal with it.

Also... "it's time for an update." What are you basing this on? Three years for a model refresh is very uncharacteristic of Lexus.

And lastly, your "intelligent observation" of "haters" wishing for a full-blown refresh is so ridiculously wrong, it's almost comical. If you take the time to read through this thread, which you obviously haven't, you'd find that most people who are unhappy with the changes would have preferred Lexus to not have made any changes at all.

But, you know, common sense doesn't seem to be your strong point, based on what you posted.

Well OEM stuff is usually very expensive but not always. For example, the OEM metallic trim kit is $415 and the lightweight 19" F-Sport wheels are a little over $400 per wheel. So what I'm saying is that OEM stuff can be priced relatively okay if purchased from a dealer like Sewell. Now if only Lexus would price the wood trim like these parts...

 

I was at Taste of Lexus yesterday and the 09 IS350 looks much better in person. Pics don't do justice. The gray wood looks great also. I hated the wheels tho. But, that can be fixed easily. I'm glad to have waited for an 09.
See it in person, then judge for yourself.

Actually, this is VERY characteristic of Lexus. Nearly every one of their cars and SUVs since Lexus was launched in fall 1989 has had a cosmetic refresh in the 4th model year of a vehicle's cycle (and the 2009 IS will be the 4th year of the 2IS).
