Default Door locking system and headlights

Hi, a couple of questions,

Do the doors on the 08 IS250 automatically lock after some time if I forget to lock the doors after I park it and go into the house?

Also, do the headlights automatically turn off after some time if I forget to turn them off after the ignition has been shut off at night?

I think I managed to pull off both of these careless actions last night. Just concerned that the battery may have been drained.
Thanks!

Your lights you have 2 options.

1. Auto postion they will time out and turn off on their own in this position. You can change how long they stay on from the setting if you want to personalize it. In the Auto position if you hit the Lock button on the Key Fob 2 times it will shut the lights off then.
2. If you have the lights in the ON position you just need to make sure that you press the Lock button on the Key Fob 2 times and they will shut off.

The car doesnt Auto Lock when you leave it. The closest to that is if you Unlock the car but do not enter or open the door it will relock on its own. There is a feature that will lock the doors when put in Drive or when you are going "x" mph. But nothing that will Auto lock the doors when you leave your car!

Hope that was of help

answers:

1. No. You have to arm the alarm first.

2. Yes. It will shut off by itself (as long as you closed the door properly)

Thank you for your reply. So the headlight DOES shut off after some time had elapsed after the ignition is off even if the headlight **** was was on the ON position and not on the automatic on/off position?

I think any electrical item in our cars will shut off but only after it drains so much of the battery. I left my lites on, thought they where on Auto, and was in the gym for close to 2 hours and when I came back out the lights where on still. I locked the car but didnt push it twice as I normally do. So from my experience the only options are what I posted above unless someone knows something I do not!

I leave my lights on auto. When I park my car in the garage, I leave it unlocked, then shut the door, and yes the lights do go off on their own (1-2 min spand). I have my doors set to lock and unlock when going in R and D.

the es350 had a cool locking mechanism where it would automatically lock the doors once you open the driver door after turning the car off so you dont have to press the black button. wish the is had that feature.

I don't get it--the doors LOCK when you open the door? What if you have passengers? I had an ES350 loaner, and it worked exactly like my IS--except all 4 doors had the sensors in the door handles, which I loved.

Yes--you can set that yourself. I did this--I like it better, since I have little kids to buckle into the back seat.

I think the procedure is: sit in the car, doors closed, and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time. After a few seconds, you will hear a beep. It changes the setting for the door handle--but not for the remote itself, which will still require two presses for unlocking all doors.

I did something like that to change my locking/unlocking mechanism and loving it, once I put my hand on either driver/passenger door it unlocks all 4 doors.

i think the set up will not allow that because it can sense if you have a passenger with the weight. but yeah it was one of the first thing i noticed about it when i got it as a loaner. maybe it was an lps for the es350.

edit: just realized it wasn't a setting but my loaner was the moon color es350 at lexus of westminster (2007 model with the premium package and illuminated sills). i think there is another es350 but without the illuminated sills that doesnt have this mechanism.
