Default Key Detection Problem

So today I ran into a problem with my 06 IS250...

The unlock and lock buttons are not working on either set of keys I got out of the two. Also it seems the car is having a hard time detecting the key. It is detecting it randomly if I place the keys near the door or start button. I did see a flashing red light on the key. Most of the times the key is not detected therefore I cannot get into the car or start it.

Curious if this is a battery problem or something wrong with the car? Since the same thing happens to both set of my keys. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

sounds like you need to replace the battery?

mine is having the same issues, i accidentally dropped the keys on the floor in my car and all of the sudden it was working again, minus the blinky red light. so every so often i find my self smack the key fob on my leg or something. pretty annoying, but im taking my car in for its 5k service in a week so im gonna get it checked out. oh the fobs are about 4months old as well.

but your batteries are probably dying since you have a 06

yeah, like everyone said your batteries seem to be dying. its not that both are programmed to fail at the same time, its just if you keep a remote inactive the battery wont necessarily last longer..correct me if im wrong

if you go to a local radioshack or anything like that buy a CR1632 battery, thats what our remotes use. very easy to swap

ps. when your battery dies in your remote, youre supposed to hold the remote close to the ignition button so you dont get stranded, probably why it recognizes it when ya do that
