Default smart key problem

Hi, I recently picked up a 2004 Lexus LS430 and i noticed that all the smart key functions for the car aren't working. As in i would need to put the key in the ignition to start the car up but the key fob buttons work fine. I'm wondering what the cause of the problem is ? I also only have one key and it's the master key.

You'll likely need to go to the dealer to have it programmed.

Thanks for the tips guys, So i tried changing the battery in the key and that didn't do the trick and i also tried pressing the on/off switch under the dash for the smart key and that didn't work also. The green light flashes for the smart key and also the red light flashes at the same time also. I still haven't gone to the dealer to see if it needs reprogramming though.
