Default HID vertical level why?

I adjusted vertical level on driver’s side HID last night. It was pretty happy that I can see a little farther now.
But when I turned on headlamp on this morning, it was very LOW!!!!
I turned-off engine and wait….turned back on but same thing. Now I really cannot see! I felt my wife’s Sienna LTD is better because HID is more brighter+ blue and can adjust headlight level by dial while driving……..
I need to adjust it tonight again. But want to know what did I do wrong? I just turned screw clockwise….that’s all.

I Beleive your HID autolevler defaulted back to the being lower on the driver side for a safety reason. The driver headlight will be lower from the factory to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic. No worries, this is normal.

thats wierd :S, It shouldn't have moved back down if you adjusted it manually. I know a lot of people including myself when i take delivery have adjusted their headlights when they lowered their car. Hopefully they can chime in with some info.

Yes, it is weird that a manual adjust was overridden by the servo motors. Unfortunately, when you lower the car, you run into risks of effecting the auto-leveler and AFS in the composite headlight assembly. I believe that there was a member a while back that figured out a way to correct this. Hopefully they can offer insite.

Thanks guys.
Problem is lower than original now!
Actually, Dealer adjusted once when I put my car in service.
they said "Dr side is now even pa side". But I wanted to up a little more because I had black spot where I wanted to see……….. I will do again.
Hopefully, I did not screw.

Great PDF file post, I think that most people will take for granted the pre-headlight aim prep such as full tank of gas, heavye items removed from car and having a person in the dirvers seat. These are important things that will ensure having better healight aiming as the beam will need to be a bit higher.

Don't forget when making vertical adjustments, you have to make the same adjustments horizontally... on the OEM HID equipped cars

I have a feeling that this PDF that's been floating around is for the non-HID equipped cars... Since warning on lights and in our manual state to make both adjustments..

I wonder if one of our awesome Lexus Tech members can see if a different file exists for the AFS / HID equipped cars that properly shows both adjustments..
