Did anyone here get their windshield protected by some kind of shock absorbing film or clear plex? http://clearplex.com/?video Recently my Rav 4 got a nasty rock chip and I would hate to have the same chip on the IS windshield. I can imagine that costing a lot more since it also incorporates the rain sensor.
I inquired about the price for installation in a bay area installer and he quoted me $150, which to me isn't bad at all. Just wondering did anyone here have any negative experince with adding this.

You should also check out the stuff from proline. It's like a clear bra for your windshield. I think that they are located in the bay area. I know it has a warranty and it is somewhere around 150-240 for the IS. Just can't put amonia on it (like windex).

 

I haven't had any cracks in this car's windshield *knocks on wood* but I had one in my old IS300 and I think it was only about $50 to fix?

 

$50 to fix a small chip from spreading but what if the chip is not fixable and becomes a crack. Then replacing a window, I'm guessing will be around $400 and up? I'm hoping to avoid that with this protection.

 

Mine was one of those "star" shaped cracks and they fixed it. I couldn't even see where it was after they fixed it.
But yeah you have to fix it before it spreads otherwise it new windshield time.
