2008 Lexus iPod interface kit (merged threads)
Okay, as promised, installation and interface pics. A HUUUUGE thanks to Tommy Leung at Music Box for opening his shop on a Sunday and taking care of Terrance and me with a clean, quick installation at a great price.
Some shots of the installation:

Back of the head unit, showing how the iPod connects into the SAT plug:

The "brain of the iPod unit.

Here you can see the "brain" of the iPod unit tucked away to the left of the shifter console, wrapped in black padding:

There's already some great pictures of the navigation screen interface posted here, so I only took these two:

When connecting an iPhone, you'll get the following message. Select 'No' and everything works fine.

You'll then see this screen showing that your iPhone is charging.

T-Rex06 forced me to take this picture of his car as ransom for being my 'iPhone hand model.'

Ok ok, back to business... This is what the non-navigation equipped screens show on the radio display:
Push the text button, and you'll get artist name:

Push the text button again and you'll see the song title:

The '1' preset button allows you to select playlists:

Preset 2 lets you search by artist:

Preset 3 searches by song:

Overall, I love the functionality this kit provides. It makes my iPhone a 'plug it and forget' device - full functionality from the radio controls, and biggest for me is the ability to set the iPod to shuffle and skip songs without touching or unlocking the iPhone's screen. I hope this helps those of you that are thinking about buying this kit. I wouldn't hesitate for one second to recommend it to anyone who has an iPod or iPhone. Can't complain about the price either, thanks to the discount currently being offered by Sewell Lexus.

nice. thanks javier. im really tempted to get this now. but u know for the cars w/o navi, when you turn the car off and start it up again does it start with the text on? i ask because i know for when i use cd's with text, i can put the screen to text mode but when i restart my car it displays numbers again unless i press text again, which gets kinda...ya after awhile.

No the text does not come back on. Hummm funny things though i just went to my car to check on it and my ipod was dead. I wonder why it did not turn off automatically when i turned off the car. Maybe just a fluke.
