Has anyone counted the # of speakers?

1-dashboard
3-driver side
3-front passenger
3-rear driver side
3-rear passneger side
2-rear

You won't have the center channel speaker on the dash unless you have ML sound.

 

stock radio = 3 front passenger door, 3 front driver door, 3 rear passenger door, 3 rear driver door, 1 subwoofer = 13

ML radio (not 100% sure on this one) = 3 front passenger door, 3 front driver door, 2 rear passenger door, 2 rear driver door, 2 rear deck, 1 subwoofer, 1 center = 14

i know that net net the ML has an extra center channel, just not sure about whether 2 from the rear are on the deck instead of door.

 

the grille is on all models - it only has a speaker in it if you have the ML

 

ML has 14 speakers....info available of ML website, plus know this for sure from when I purchased mine. Centre channel is the one extra speaker the stock system does not have.

 

Is there a difference in the actual speakers with ML and non-ML aside from the number (13 vs 14)?

 

Yup, the speakers are different (and located differently as well)

Are those part numbers on that diagram? If so, it looks like the same speakers to me except for #7 ML (and 1 obviously) and #5 standard...

wow, that's still a lot of speakers....no wonder it sounds good even if it's not ML

No, you are right. the ML has 2 from rear only. I did change all my speakers and i was surprise that there are only 2 for each rear door insteat of 3. I went to the stealership and they told me that cuz its ML u have only 2 channals for the back door
