Default Am I going Crazy?? (Side Mirrors)

Okay I have a 2007 IS350 (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=263995) with the sport package but opted against the park assist. The other day I was backing up into a parking spot and I am 90% sure that the side mirrors tilted downward! I put it in park, then back in reverse, and the mirrors tilted down again! How is this possible????

It was during the middle of the day so I could see clearly, but I didn't get a whole lot of sleep the night before so maybe my eyes were playing a trick on me...this trick may also have to do with the fact that I was also driving my buddy's car around and his mirrors do tild down when you back up.

This poses another question though. Since all of our mirrors are controlled electronically, this means that no additional mechanical parts are needed for the mirrors to tilt downward when you back up. So it must be a simple programming difference right? If that's the case, is it possible to re-program / hack our cars so that they have this function?

Yup normal phenomenon with your car. No need to worry. It's suppose to help you to avoid hitting the curb when parking. Enjoy!

Yo need to read the manual man
to turn the function on leave the mirror switch on the left or right side
to turn-off leave the mirror switch on the middle

I know! I should have read it more in-depth!

Thanks for not flaming and thanks for the info! I'm going to go home and re-park my car just for the hell of it!

Nah don't worry. Those manuals are crap. Nothing like products made overseas and then the manuals get translated from Japanese, Chinese, or Korean to English by someone that clearly does not speak the language. Plus I've found information scattered quite a bit and not in obvious places, so missing a lot of these little things is easy even if you read the thing multiple times in-depth. Then of course you will forget a lot of what you read anyway.

The only time the mirrors won't tilt down is when you have the side mirror selector in the middle vs L or R.

Does this still apply if you have the backup camera in your nav system? I have an 07 350 with X package and my mirrors don't do this. I tried all three switch settings (L,R and Middle) and nothing... The dealer said I don't have it on my car even though I have the X package?? Whats the deal? Anyone know what the truth is cause I REALLY WANT IT!!!

X Package is not the same as Sports Package. And having Nav/backup camera has nothing to do with tiltdown mirrors. Only the Sports Package and the Luxury Package have the tiltdown feature. You are SOL, as they are not retrofittable.

Don't listen to everyone else, you might still be crazy.....even though your mirrors are designed to do that. Don't sell yourself short!

Sport Pkg or Lux Pkg only. Nav has nothing to do with it. No way to get it unless you have one of those 2 packages.
