Default I-Pod / Nav hack

Went to the dealership to drop my car for a rattle in the sunrrof and also found lexus of NB has an aggreement with outside contractor regarding the ipod intergration / nav by pass set up.

So basically the ipod integration is installed in the glove box and the ipod music shows on the touch screen nav and you can play aorund with it that way or you can use the controls on your steerling wheel. Scroll through individual artist folders etc.. (all done by the contractor)

The guy also said that they also unlock the nav so you can watch DVDs, use full capability bluetooth and also input destinations while moving all without voiding the warranty. Plus they come to you to do all the work. SHocked yes but its true. It also comes with a price tag of $699.00. Little steep but to keep my warranty on the nav and have done right why not.The contractor said they specifically focus on Lexus, so someone who knows about the car is nice to. You due have to sign a waiver with the outside contractor in case of an accident or something.

I guess alot of clients have been complaining about the crimpling of the nav. Thought I would share the knowledge.

Guys, cost on this part is about $180 with a retail around $300 plus $125ish for install plus the dealer mark up of $275 = $700 bux. I'm sure u can find a local audio shop to do it for $400-$450 ish, but to pay the dealer the extra $300 or so to keep the warranty is your choice. If i didnt do this 4 a living i would pay it! lol...

Its not through the dealer. Its an outside party. Just like tint windows they have recommendations who to go through. Same concept. Heck if it frees up my nav and gives me ipod connection i am done for it

if its like my delaer here they offer this as well. its who would install any aftermarket stuff like a radar dector ect. i was offered and they had a demo there when i was buying my car. they where going to do it for 150. i backed out as i wanted a remote start and that never happend either. this is great but only that dealer will back you up. if you go to another dealer then they will not cover stuff if they want to fight you on it. be careful on this....it does void the warranty. i can say it does work perfect!!! took my other car in for service and do miss the fact that on Acura you can use it while driving. i found it so useful today and think i may need to take my car to lexus for this....good luck!
