Default IS350 pricing VS IS250

Which car is easy to buy now as far as negotiating the Invoice price on 350 or 250. I am comparing IS350 RWD with IS250AWD. Does any one knows which model are the dealers willing to drop the price more to get them out of their lots.
I am hearing that 250s are selling like HOT items and its hard to get one but is the same can be said for 350s or the dealer can lower the prices more on 350 then 250.

Well here in california... EVERY dealership i talked to tried to convince me to buy a 250 instead of a 350...seemed like they were overstock on 250s (which is why they are selling hot- well at least in california) ...Also dealers immediately offered under invoice pricing on the 250s..and the 350s they didn't negotiate fairly easily...But I still got a 350 =)

yea the is350 I bought yesterday in Florida ... well it wasnt as easy to negotiate and they kept trying to convince me to buy 250's on the count of them claiming they have alot so they will work me a better deal .. one man even went as far as saying " why do you need that much power " ... well thats a dumb question in my opinion ... but you could get a much better deal on a 250 instead of the 350's on the count of theres not that many available

Yeah they really discourage the IS350. I've said this a bunch of times before, but I've never seen a salesman go so far to make you not buy one of their products. It's any wonder they stay in business with that attitude. I've even said I'll pay whatever price you want if you can get the exact car I want, and still they can't do it. I think it all boils down to them wanting to spend time with customers that don't really know alot about what they want, that's where the real salesmanship is shown. People like us on CL know what we want and know more than they do, so we're typically not easy sells.

So seems like 250 are easy to get then 350. Now are 250AWD easy to get or RWD. One dealer in chicago area told me that they have 6 RWD and no one was buying them s they ship it to florida but they can get me AWD. Now AWD is 2K more and If I dont care AWD then I can save some money and get a RWD with more options. One of the dealer also told me that they dont believe on edmunds INVOICE price and he was quoting me 1K more then edmunds invoice .
I also tried BMW 328i and the dealer quote me edmunds INVOICE in first offer. So seemslike Lexus dealer in Chicagoland are more stiff to negotiate as compare to BMW dealers. I tried 3 Lexus dealer ship in burbs and they all start with 1500 over invoice. Also they are giving me a finance rate of 6.5 instead of 5.7 I was expecting with an excelent credit.

The bulk of the AWD 250s are sent to the states which snow quite a bit...so in IL finding a AWD would be easy, not sure on RWD.And if you do choose to go with the 328i, you will be paying a bit more for a similarly equiped IS250 rwd. And btw dealers lie alot... When I was searching for a IS350 they told me alot of bull.

To prove the invoice price just have the dealer produce it, they have it at their fingertips. Just compare the prices to Edmunds, they should be the same. He is blowing smoke and padding the deal with an easy 1k, don't fall for it.

I'd be very surprised if a BMW dealer would quote you an invoice price right off the bat as 328's are selling well. Are you sure? Look out for the all the 'extras' they will tack on when it comes time to finalize the deal. BMW dealers are not known to sell cars at invoice, especially the 3 series.

Why were you expecting 5.7%, that is lower than market right now. A 6.5% from Lexus at this point seems about right.

When I first started looking the IS was still relatively new and I had a salesman in San Antonio tell me that no one needed the 350, the 250 was just fine. Naturally he didn't have any 350's in stock. I just moved on.

One of the lexus dealer told me I can get 5.73% from lexus if I qualify for Tier 1.
He said thats the summer event special Lexus has for financing.
For 328i, yes its Invoice exactly same as edmunds but he is adding ~$300 (120+180) for some other fees like doc,deposit.....
the have many 328i left on their lots for now and 2008 is due in 2 months but you are right their invoice prices are 2.5K higher then 250 invoice and I like 250 interior more then 328i but 328i drive is better then 250 its the road handling which I think no one can beat BMW plus 4yrs 50k free maintenenace is a good savings also for next 4 yr. But I still leaning towards IS250 RWD.

Well bmw's free maintainence will save you money in the short run, but will be a pain to maintain after 50k-60k miles...you would be expecting to take it in every other month and to fork over 1.5-2k each visit...well thats what my sister's M3 requires. If you are simply goign to use the car to get from point A to point B, BMW handling doesn't really matter, but if you are goign to do some spirted driving then its a different story. And BMW 3 series are EVERYWHERE... well at least in california.

if you're going to keep the car a long time, go with Lexus or fork over more $$$$$$$$ for the BMW extended warranty; maintenance will be higher on the beemer as well.
