Default What rack system are you using?

I'm about to buy an 08 IS350, and am wondering which roof rack system you guys (and gals) are using. I'll be using it mostly to carry my surboards. I've gone on Thule's web site, and they have a rack system for the IS for $350. Are there any others made specifically for the IS? Any input and info would be greatly appreciated! Thanx.

there's a lexus rack that's available in canada. run a search and you'll find pics of it.

I have the Thule Rapid Aero load bars on my 350. Every one I talked to said they were really happy with their Thule stuff. Sure does get the job done. I'm guessing that either Thule or Yakima will always be a sure bet.

Thanks RicTio for the info and pics! How much did you pay for the racks? Also thanks ULTiMaX99 for the links for the Lexus racks. Both rack systems look like they will get the job done. Ahhhh.......decision time.

Yakima racks here for my surfboards. I use their 'strapthang' strap for surfboards too and it works extremely well. So easy to remove/put back on when needed.

The cheapest place i found was this website: http://www.agees.com/

My setup cost me $245 (includes: Q towers, 48" bars, 4 clips and all mounting hardware needed) with free locks and free shipping! Without the strapthang, it would have been $204. You won't find a better price unless it's used (i looked everywhere, but this was the cheapest).

I like the Lexus racks because they're 'low profile', but they're so damn expensive.

Good luck!!

It was about $310 and some change (free shipping, no tax).

Oh, the humanity. I guess if you have to carry stuff that is the way to go, but it sure buggars up the beauty of the IS lines.

I agree. If you own a $40k luxury car, you surely should own some type of beater or utility vehicle.

A lot of people here thought I was crazy for putting a roof rack on the IS (and I was debating whether or not to do it). But it's so much more enjoyable taking the IS out to the trail heads compared to my wife's SUV! It's my motivation to get through the long hikes and rides! I guess I view my IS as simply a car, rather than a "$40k luxury car". I'll save the babying for my wife and my dog.

how did you fit a YAKIMA RACK on your is250/350?

i've checked the site and have not found clips that fit. does anyone out there know which clips will fit the '06-09 isx50?

if anyone is wondering, i got my yakima rack to fit an '08 car. the clips i used were Q10 for the front and Q73 for the rear.

yakima's site states that it is not supported, but fits pretty well. install at your own risk.
