Auto Tilt Mirror in Reverse Issue
I found this feature to be a bit distracting on my ES350 loaner car I had for a week. Just another servo motor to burn out over time and cost money. Maybe it is useful for some owners, but it reminds me of when Chrysler use to have fancy electronic features on cars in the late 80's like digital dash, voice alerts, etc. This is simply my opinion. Heated mirrors are always nice for bad winters.
Doesn't work if it's in the middle. Put it left or right, then put car in reverse, mirrors auto tilt down (on lux or sport package cars)
I'm having the same problem with my brand new 2-day old IS 350 where my side mirrors don't tilt all the way down to where I set them to. Here's what I did:
1. Put transmission into R
2. Side mirrors tilt down a bit
3. I use the controls to make the side mirrors tilt down some more
4. Put transmission into P
5. Put transmission into R again
6. Side mirrors tilt down a bit BUT not to where I set them to
Any way to fix this? I remember my mom's ES had no problem remembering how far the side mirrors should tilt down.

i was like wtf for the past week about this. search function works...
Apparently it is a dirt (dust) build up on the pivot point of the mirror mechanism. If you manually move (by hand) the mirrors (mirrors only not the mirror housing) to their extreme positions left, right, up, and down it will loosen up the mirror and the auto tilt should work again.
FYI only IS models with seat memory have this auto tilt feature.

Now the mirrors seem to be back to the correct position after reverse and the memory position works properly.
