Heated mirrors are always nice for bad winters.
Sounds like my father 30 years ago, arguing against buying a TV with a remote, or a car with power windows--"It's the first thing that breaks". If it does break in 4yr/50K, you get it fixed for free. It's a great feature--trust me. Between that and the back up camera, there's no need for the LS's autmatic parking feature for parallel parking.

Doesn't work if it's in the middle. Put it left or right, then put car in reverse, mirrors auto tilt down (on lux or sport package cars)

I'm having the same problem with my brand new 2-day old IS 350 where my side mirrors don't tilt all the way down to where I set them to. Here's what I did:

1. Put transmission into R
2. Side mirrors tilt down a bit
3. I use the controls to make the side mirrors tilt down some more
4. Put transmission into P
5. Put transmission into R again
6. Side mirrors tilt down a bit BUT not to where I set them to

Any way to fix this? I remember my mom's ES had no problem remembering how far the side mirrors should tilt down.

Also you do need to have the Luxury or Sports Package... I don't know if it comes in the newer X-package or not.

dont reposition it while in R. put it back in park to reposition then if you want it to tilt, press the L button on the console for mirror adjustment. Works on the GS350 2007.

FYI only IS models with seat memory have this auto tilt feature.
Thanks for the suggestion. It helps in my case and saves me an unnecessary trip to the dealership.

Now the mirrors seem to be back to the correct position after reverse and the memory position works properly.

Bump again. Tried this trick this morning--tilt is back to new again!

I do find that if I keep the auto tilt feature turned on, the tilting works more consistently. This keeps the mechanisms in use, minimizing the chances of it being stuck and not tilt.

Put the mirror switch in the middle and it turns the auto-tilt off.
