Unhappy auto dimming side mirrors

Hello everyone, my driver's side mirror has been getting worse. When I first bought the car the whole side mirror would tint by itself but as time went on there appeared to be areas where it was not tinted. And as you can see it has now gotten worse.

If there is anyway to fix this it would greatly be appreciated. It gets so annoying driving at night like that, and if I turn off the dimming I lose the advantage of the rear and passenger side mirrors which are working perfectly.

Thanks

that's quite psychedelic......... if the motor runs fine they sell a sheet of "mirror material" that you can cut up and paste atop your current busted mirror. Keep in mind I have no idea how well these are made, but just assume you get what you pay for.

Google the phrase "Fix-A-Mirror Universal Side View Mirror Replacement"

Good luck!

Me either, is this feature the one that's on the rear-view mirror? B/c mine has a huge light-colored splotch in the middle and it's growing..

i have a small spot on my rear view, but it goes away when the engine runs the heat through the mirror, really hope it doesnt start getting bigger because i really like the wide rear view in our cars

Don't feel bad, my passenger side mirror looks the same except it has three dark colored spots on the glass. Just replacing the glass will fix this problem...something I should do one of these days, but it doesnt seem to bother me though..

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I had a feeling I would have to replace them but money is getting a little tight for me at the moment. As for the years that the SC's had the tinting mirrors I think it was 95+ if I'm not mistaken.

If anybody comes up with any other alternative, please post up.

Thanks

I thought it was with the JZZ31's that the Auto Dimming mirrors came, in '97. In any case you should just get a new pair, i love them auto dimming mirrors. <3

They came in 96 SC's...

They are not plug and play, you'll need a whole new door harness, there are 2extra wires that are needed to run the autodim feature in your pre-96 SC...One of these wires is brown and the other is blue..

The whole harness for the pre-96 SC is completely different from the 96 and over SC's...

Oops, I didn't see the picture (since my workplace blocks images). It's happening to my rear-view too.

i think he meant if you want to put the dimming mirrors in an SC that didn't come with them factory. i ran into that situation and didn't feel like replacing the whole harness so i've been sitting on a pair for awhile now =\
