Default First Post: Please Help Me Out Guys!

hello ladies and gentlemen,
my name is Kenny and I'm coming from G35driver forum. I used to own 2006 G35 6MT coupe fully loaded for 11 months and ended up Lemon LAwing the G due to some mechanic problems. I was originally going for 2006 IS350 last year but didn't get it because I was told that I had to wait for 3 months..
I really needed a car at that time so I went with G35

anyways,,I'm in the Marine Corps right now and will be getting out in July of this year and I'm in the market for a new 2007 IS250 or IS350 and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the price and which dealer I should go to. I'm in Los Angeles and already been to Glendale Lexus and I think I got a good deal on IS250 but no discount on IS350
here is what I'm looking for

IS250 Smoky Granite Mica with Black Interior with
Premium Package includes:
- Auburn bird's-eye maple interior trim
- Perforated leather-trimmed interior
- Heated and ventilated front seats

Additional Options:
- Lexus voice-activated DVD Navigation System
- Bi-xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- 18-in Alloy Wheels with Summer Tires
how much should I pay OTD for this?
dealer said that I can get this for invoice price..

or

IS350 Smoky Granite Mica with Black Interior with
Premium Package includes:
- Auburn bird's-eye maple interior trim
- Perforated leather-trimmed interior
- Heated and ventilated front seats

Additional Options:
- Lexus voice-activated DVD Navigation System
- Bi-xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- 18-in Alloy Wheels with Summer Tires
how much for this?
dealer quote me $41,855.00

or

IS350 Smoky Granite Mica with Black Interior with
Luxury Package with 18-in wheels includes:
- Auburn bird's-eye maple interior trim
- Perforated leather-trimmed interior
- Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column
- Lexus Memory System for power driver's seat (except lumbar) outside mirrors and steering wheel
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Illuminated doorsill scuff plates
- Power rear-window sunshade
- Rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers with mist cycle
- Electrochromic (auto-dimming) outside mirrors with auto tilt-down in reverse
- Bi-xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps
- Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS)
- 18-in alloy wheels

Additional Option:
- Navigation System/Mark Levinson® Premium Audio System Package
and how much for this?
dealer quote me $44,625.00

I also heard the rumor that there is a 2008 ISs coming out soon..but not too worry about this since I did my research and came up with the conclusion that there won't be any significant change..(please correct me if I'm wrong)
apologize for posting such a long list..and I do really appreciate for reading this and for helping me out.
hope to purchase this car soon and I'm really looking forward to join
you guys..
thank you! and have one great day!

First of all, thank you for serving our country.

The 2008 ISs will not come out till September. You actually might want to wait, if possible, till then and you will be able to negotiate with them more since they want the 07's off the lot.

Its all up to what you want. If you like performance you will probably want the 350. Between the two it looks like the dealer quoted you MSRP. I was able to get $5k off MSRP (or a little over invoice) for my car a month before the 07s came out. The 250 you should be able to get bellow invoice as they have plenty of stock. If they are not willing to budge I would move to another dealership. There are plenty of CAers on the board and hopefully they can chime in.

Bought mine in April, and shopped for both an IS250 and 350.

Normal price for 2007 IS250 is $500-$1K below invoice, and don't settle for anything more.

Normal price for a 2007 IS350 was $1K above invoice. They are hard to find right now, and I couldn't get a better deal.

I checked across the country by the way. Buy from California if you want the best deal possible. 36 Lexus dealerships there are ready to compete for your business. Longo Lexus and Lexus of Westminster were willing to go $1K below invoice on the IS250.

The IS350 prices you are being quoted are way out of line. There's limited supply, but not nearly as dire as salespeople make it out to be. Go to any large dealer and they are bound to have 5 or 6 on the lot. They only come in a few trims, so you'll generally find what you're looking for if you're not too picky. I think the ones for around $42K MSRP are the best deal, and I would look for at least $4K off MSRP on those in California.

On the 250, 1000 below invoice is the starting negotiating price in CA.

First though, go test drive them both and see which car is better for your needs. Coming from the G, you might want to keep the same power range...

While you were in the corps if your paygrade started with a E-x, good job, if it started with a O-x... thats ok noone is perfect

One thing, are those prices with or without the extended warrenty? Also there is a BIG performance difference between the 250/350 so pick carefully. No matter which mdl you choose you wont be disappointed.

The best number I seen here for the IS250 with the specs your are looking for is $32,150 w/o taxes.

Ask member Cwise2000. He is in So.Cal. His deal was:

07 IS250 RWD
NAV
18" OEM Alloys
Premium Package
HID w/AFS
Rear Bumper Applique, Cargo Net, Trunk Mat, Wheel Locks
MSRP was $37841

He got the same deal $32,150 from two dealers and purchased from the one closer to his home.

OTD was almost $35K.

Don't worry, if you live in CA and follow our recommendations, you'll get a excellent deal. Good luck!

thanks guys..I'll do more research on 250s and 350s before I actually purchase it.
I'll love to get 350 since I'm used to drive G35 6MT, but won't be able to afford all the gas since I'll be going back to school,,,and I think I will do just fine with 250..both of them are great cars..
thanks again guys..and thanks for the support!

Extended warranties are useless unless you plan to rack up lots of miles in a hurry. I've made the mistake of buying them on my previous Toyota purchases, and they never paid out. I never had anything catastrophic happen that would allow me to recover the cost of paying for the warranty upfront.

My advice? Put the $2500 or so for the extended warranty into a nice investment on the day you purchase your car, and tap into those funds if you need major repairs. You will likely still have plenty of money left over.

Toyota and Lexus cars are very well built, and don't have major failures requiring you to exercise your extended warranty. At least the ones I've bought anyway.

The 350s are pretty rare so there really is little discounting on those. The best I have seen so far is about a grand over invoice. When I talked with JM Lexus, which is supposedly the largest dealer in the world, even they only had 8 2007 IS350s on the lot and that was almost 3 weeks ago. It seems the dealers will immediately quote you the MSRP less some seemingly random discount that takes the price down to around halfway between invoice and MSRP, but then they will not budge from that price.

I think on the right day at the end of a slow month at the end of a day, you can find a great deal on an IS350. I got mine in December for under invoice from a dealer who was behind on their numbers for the year. Add the Taste of Lexus coupon and it almost made the car seem cheap...

So if you're not in a hurry, be patient and bide your time. I wouldn't just accept 1K over invoice as a given.

Do you mean $40K OTD? For this to happen, you'd have to buy the IS350 configuration that has the MSRP of $41,855 at around the invoice price of $36,611...possible but unlikely. $1K over invoice is much more doable IMO.

BTW, thank you for your service.

Hmm, if Toyota really wants to get in the good graces of the American public, they should offer employee pricing to active military personnel or something like that. Maybe they do?
