First Post: Please Help Me Out Guys!
Extended warranties are useless unless you plan to rack up lots of miles in a hurry. I've made the mistake of buying them on my previous Toyota purchases, and they never paid out. I never had anything catastrophic happen that would allow me to recover the cost of paying for the warranty upfront.
My advice? Put the $2500 or so for the extended warranty into a nice investment on the day you purchase your car, and tap into those funds if you need major repairs. You will likely still have plenty of money left over.
Toyota and Lexus cars are very well built, and don't have major failures requiring you to exercise your extended warranty. At least the ones I've bought anyway.

Its like a condom, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
I got my IS350 with ML/Nav/Lux/Spoiler for $250 over invoice which came out to be about $43.5k OTD in San Jose, CA. Almost every other dealer I talked to wouldn't budge on $1k over invoice and occasionally I got $500 over invoice. I went in on the last day of the month, just before closing and haggled the crap out of them even after they were closed at 9pm, then walked out. They finally compromised on my asking price of the invoice price and gave me $250 over invoice. Point is, if you're patient and stick to your guns, you can get a great deal. If you can get a 250 for $1k UNDER invoice or better, then go for it. If you can get a 350 for $500 over invoice or better, go for it.
Good luck!
Good luck!
does glendale offer any road hazard insurance for rim and tire? mine sure saved me after an encouter on the 405 late one night. invoice listed rim and potenza tire at a grand! so thus, paid for itself already for me.

thanks alot for your help guys..
I'm not in a rush to purchase a car right now so I'll shop around and wait for the right time..
I'm assuming that the right time will be the last week or the last day of Aug..since the 08s are coming out around in mid-Sept..right?
thanks again...and thanks for the great support!!

I also thank you for serving our country!
If you are not in a hurry, the best time to buy during the fall is the last week of September. It is end of month and end of 3rd quarter. They may be more desperate to sell a car than you are to buy!
Good Luck!

You do have a point, yes. The same can be said of insurance too thou right? I've owned one of my cars for over 10yrs, pay out all sorts of insurance and i've never once got pulled over in it/wrecked it/claimed anything, nothing... so... see where i'm going? I agree, probally nothing will ever happen after the first 4yrs to the 7th, but thats not 100% EVEN IF its a toyota.

Condom? LOL...I get a kick out of each and every one of your posts.

Insurance and extended warranties are two different things. Insurance isn't really an option when driving a vehicle. Extended warranties are 100% optional.
My point is that you wind up paying over $2K upfront for the extended warranty, and then you pay interest on it if you are financing your vehicle. Instead, why not put the $2K in a medium risk investment and let the money grow? After 4 years/50K miles, you may have a nice stash put away in the event your vehicle has a major problem. If you have no failure, then you have saved the $2k upfront, plus the interest you would have paid on it, and you will have gained some money by investing that money.
By purchasing the extended warranty, you are in effect paying upfront for repairs that you may never have to make.

Different Dealerships have different discounts for Military Members, just ask!!!! The worse thing they can say is No....... Then go to a Dealership that does.
Semper Altimo
hehe thx
Yea your not wrong, and paying the interest on it IF your financing oh so true... thou the thing is after you walk out of the stealership you go right to your credit union or where ever and take out a loan to pay back the stealer for the ammount you walked out the door with, you dont say 'hmm i'll get 2k extra to put into an investment', when ppl do take the extra its usally for rims OR with the extra say from a lump sum you go pay some other type of bills like creditcard or your bill at best buy stuff like that. There is no right/wrong answer, your life xp is just different from mine.

one more question ladies and gentlemen..
when you guys say over or under invoice..
does that include all the options that I wanna get?
or is that invoce + whatever option that I wanna get?
if so,,will I have a chance to get some discount on the option packages? ^^:;

Invoice price would be whatever the dealership paid for the vehicle including the options. What you see, is what you get. There are no further discounts for options at invoice price. MSRP usually includes markup on the vehicle itself and markup on each individual option, so invoice price is the best baseline to start negotiations.
I special ordered my IS350 [5 month wait] and although there probably not be that many changes for '08 [but you never know]; however if I was going to order an IS now, I would wait for to place a order for an '08. As far as the IS250 -vs the IS350: coming from the G35, will you be happy w/just the IS250....? Personally I would spring for the IS350 in your case.
