i think the car could be somewhat responsible for speeding. it is soo darn quiet at 40 or 90 miles an hour, it's hard to tell.

good luck saying that to a judge "my car is so quiet i swear i didn't even know i was going that fast!"

there is a very accurate speedometer directly below your line of sight. keep a watch on it, as well as your surroundings for police.

That wonderful yellow/orange ring on your speedometer, you can set it to any speed you want. i have mine set to 74, which is the exact speed scottsdale's freeway photoradar nabs you.

I haven’t had a ticket in 21 years, and that’s while driving some sporty cars like my old Maxima and my current G35 coupe. I used to get my share in the old days, but now I follow some simple rules:

• I don’t put a spotlight on myself by weaving in and out of traffic.
• I never cruise in the fast lane.
• There are no illegal mods on my car to attract attention.
• I have my California front plate installed.
• I stay with the flow of traffic even when it’s a bit above the speed limit.
• My rear-view mirror is my best friend, especially at night when I assume every pair of headlights behind me is a cop.

Yes, I’m 70 years old now, but I don’t drive like an old man, so don’t go there. I just drive smart and safe.

Recently got a ticket in my 350 for no seatbelt ( I live in Texas, during the summer they crack down on that stuff). im going to court tomorrow does anyone know if this will be dismissed if the cop doesn't show since this is a non moving violation? if not ill let you guys know after tomorrow.
Didn't get a chance to even talk to the judge, once I got inside they informed me I wouldn't be able to see the judge with shorts on. I just paid the ticket and left, $140 saved me some time of waiting! So for anyone that goes to court pay a ticket or try to get it removed DON'T WEAR SHORTS!

One must use a good defense when driving "spiritadly". A good radar detector (V1), look for potential radar trap locations, don't drive reckless (frequent lane changes, tail gating...) and be sure to slow down when in doubt.

Ticket attorney is always worth the $$.
Actually Radar does discriminate based on color (in a way). I'll leave out the boring details but basically darker cars will absorb more of the radar beam than lighter cars. My neighbor is a motorcycle cop whose sole duty is to assess traffic tickets and he was telling me that sometimes he has to shoot a black car two or three times before he can get a good reading (especially if the car doesn't have a front plate. He also told me that they almost always aim for the headlights since they are so reflective. I found that interesting.

Radar is reflective, so if you are near an object that is much larger than you there is a chance that the radar could scramble and mess up. If your state/county/whatever is running laser you'll have a harder defense as laser is usually pretty acurate.

Also.. this whole nonsense about taking cops to court because of radar/laser is silly about gun calibrations (can't calibrate a laser).. You should be more worried if the officer swapped modes as some laser and radar guns have to switched to get the best reading. IE.. Sitting still, Oncoming, Moving, Incoming.. Each of the bands are calibrated/shot differently according to the mode the officer is in.
