Default How to remove the rear deck OEM sub? (merged threads)

Alright, I searched and found several threads mentioning removal of the rear deck to get to the OEM sub (non-ML), but no definitive DIY instructions. Can somebody post instructions or point me to a thread that describes in more detail the steps needed to remove the rear deck? I got the rear seat out, now I need the rest. What a hassle.

On a related note, has anyone with an aftermarket sub noticed a difference in bass with the OEM sub disconnected or removed? I've tried 3 different sub packages in my 2IS and they've all been disappointing in both quality and volume.

oh? we (non-ml) have a sub??? i thought the 13th spkr was in the dash and just what is that spkr for btw. I wish crutchfield would diagnose our systems so i know exactly what i have, what size/placements/upgrade paths.

I remember reading somewhere in these forums that the non-ml is 13 speakers with the sub included but the dash speaker doesn't work, it's just there. And ml has 14 with the center dash speaker.

Standard audio is 13 speakers including a sub. ML audio is 14 speakers. The 14th speaker is the center channel speaker in the dash.

Yea, both ml and non have subs, 8" I believe. But the only difference between the two is ml has dvd changer, center dash speaker, and 300 watt amp. Standard amp only has 193 but correct me if i'm wrong though.

The base IS stereo has Pioneer speakers, the ML system has different (probably ML?) speakers.

Default Stock subwoofer & rear deck removal.

I'm installing a new sub but can't find a way to remove the stock sub. Does anyone know how to remove the rear deck and the stock subwoofer? I'd appreciate it if someone can post instructions or refer to existing threads on how to do this. THanks.
