I too have recently been getting a weird noise from the steering cloumn. The noise only last about a second and it only comes on after the steering has comes down into the set memory position and the car is started. It's very subtle and sounds like bunch of gears moving. It might be the steering wheel unlocking itself. Not too sure what to make of it.

I've never seen such a littany of complaints over nothing. I'm amazed they ever even sold one of these after reading this board. Of course, the internet is a haven for complainers. Nonetheless, I'll stick with my old school GS just to be safe.
