Is Lexus developing a replacement? The article claims Nissan will have a replacement out this fall.
Nissan is offering the owners new replacement keys, meaning it's still the same keys.
I only had a issue when I had my key and cell phone in one pocket, the car would not unlock for me. I had to pull the door handle a couple of times. It sure makes you look COOL in public. LOL
Huh... that sucks bc I keep my two right next to eachother all the time on my desk (not touching though). Im pretty sure I could get Lexus to replace mine for free if it ever stopped working. Id be pissed.
i leave the same pocket with cell phone all the time.. and on top of that comming home with laptop on my lap.. still working fine but if it ever stopped working ill make sure lexus going to replace it for free!. =)
We've had a couple of people learn this lesson early last year. Don't keep your key near cell phones, garage openers, laptops, etc.
I don't recall anyone who actually had their Lexus key damaged as a result of keeping it in close proximity to another device. If anyone has a link to such a thread, please post it.
Perhaps what Philip is remembering are those of us that had a key fob battery fail prematurely and without warning. I was one such person, but was never able to definitively say whether it was caused by a defective battery, or by keeping the fob too close to other electronics. (Given that the replacement battery has now been going strong for over a year, I'm leaning toward the theory that the original one was defective)
There is a warning in the manual to not keep the fob near other electronic devices, but it only says not to do that because it might drain the battery faster.
