Default Wanting to install sub+amp using factory head unit, HELP!

I am wanting to keep stock headunits(non-nav) and install sub with amp thats got a built in crossover. ive read some threads about people having trouble with getting the sub to sound good. Could someone give me some insight on what is needed to do such a job such as materials, time, etc.? Also some suggestions are welcome if I should get a new head unit, which i wouldnt wanna do but im always up for debate. If anyone has any DIY pics that would be helpful as well.

Appreciate the advice in advance!

splice a rca converter into your factory sub. thats the easiest way took me 10 mins. It doesnt sound good with the factory sub and a aftermarket sub going they hit at different times.

I just got in my Infinity Basslink II yesterday and I'm having Bestbuy install it Sunday. All for about $350. I've heard that could be the the simplest solution and sounds great with the stock system.

I was hoping they could install something simple like that. They knew about splicing into the stock sub, so I figured they knew what they were doing. Now I'm nervous, but I'll let you know how it goes.

Couldnt you just disconnect the factory sub without any complications?

He's talking about using the factory sub wires to connect the amp, while disconnecting it (factory sub) at the same time.

Man if you are a DIY kinda person just get a line drop and tap into your sub wires run the rca's to the amp, and for the remote on the amp for the subs I stole power from an aux, from the factory amp thats in the corner of the trunk. It only took me 2 hrs but thats cuz it took me a min to fig out how to take the deck lid off so i could get to the factory sub.......

Ohh and I left my factory sub hooked up and mine sounds just fine it hits the same time my 2 aftermarket ones in the trunk do........

I did the same thing...I added subs and an amp to my factory head unit and it really sounds great. I had them use an audio controal LC6i...

This is something you really need to bypass your factory amp.
