Possible new member
Hi,
I might be buying a new IS for my wife as a bisthday present...
This will be our second Lexus. (we had RX 300 before and now BMW and Acura)
Can someone tell me what should I look for, any problems with these cars?
Are they fun to drive as a daily car? She will be driving around 50 miles every day...
Any response will be greately appreciated.
Thank you.

The car is a great daily driver. I use it as my commuter. The 350 is fast, but don't expect this car to be a Porsche, and you'll be fine. The 250 is sufficient if you just want a comfortable car without the faster performance aspects.
Common problems that people have concerns about are pretty much minor and cosmetic, such as paint quality (get a clear bra), general size of the car, brade dust (you can get it changed for the 350 for free), and the such. No major engine/tranny problems.

a couple of dash creaks here and there, but i got one of the first ones off the boat and lexus is pretty easy to deal with. once you drive the 350, you won't want a 250 - but it sounds like you're going for the 350 anyway. no tranny problems, man, no problems at all really. small backseat if you have kids, but like our dear moderator said, mostly cosmetic things. good luck!
huu, huuu, he said member! my wife wants me to get a new member too.

i have a 250RWD, it's my commuter, at around 25 miles per day semi-city driving. only problem i've had is a rattle in the B-pillar, which a few others have expressed. hopefully the newer versions have eliminated this problem. i'll be going in for 5K service next week, we'll see what happens.
oh, i got a bent rim, 1/4 inch smoosh 'cause of construction on our busiest freeway, however, my tires for life program will replace the rim and gashed tire. ---5yrs./$995.
clear-bra only if you -- she-- drives <300 feet behind tires/high speed. phil's clear bra in my opinion looks yellowed on our breakwater blue colors.
