Default Help, dirty engine covers?

hey peeps,

i opened my hood for the first time in weeks the other day and noticed light tan colored splash marks. is this something i have to worry about? here in md, it has rained heavily in the past month. is it just dirty water?

thanks.

Just clean it, and if it reappears then you have something to worry about. From the picture it just looks like dirty rain water - I hope that's all it is.

no way. water can't get inside, even if it does, the heat woulda dried it up. it looks like dust n grime combined. maybe coolant also. or rat poop

Coolant dries pink (or red), not white. Something got splashed on the cover, but it wasn't coolant.

It obviously doesn't rain much where you live. Water can and does get in the engine bay, and dirty water doesn't dry clean - it leaves the contaminants on the surface it dries from.

it looks like water residue mixed with a little dirt and grime, whip it and froget about it. Ask ur neighbor to pop his hood i bet his looks a lot worse.
