Coolant spilled everywhere. Possible water pump failure?
hey guys I tried to search for more information about the water pump failure our isx50s have but couldn't find more information.
My case:
I drove from LA to Vegas averaging 80mph for 4 hours at night and the temperature was about 60 degrees and lower. I topped my coolant to full and I am very OCD in maintenance when traveling far distances. I also have a CF Seibon hood which releases A LOT of hot air from the vents and seibon themselves said it lowered the engine temperature drastically.
With all that said, when I got to vegas, I realized the engine bay was contaminated with pink coolant everywhere. I checked the coolant cap and it was still sealed shut. Everything looked ok, no holes or leaks but for some reason the coolant was down to "low" and I had pink coolant all over the center engine cover, a bit on the windshield, battery terminals, serpentine belt, all engine covers.
Any ideas if the water pump failed on me or is this just a overheating issue for going 4 hours straight on 80mph?
I also noticed our coolant had a second hose. meaning there are 2 hoses on the cap of the coolant. one that connects to the engine, and one that just leads to nowhere. It seems like its disconnected but at the same time I think it may be a secondary hose to allow outside air to go in? Let me know if something is wrong here or if anyone has any insight on this.
My clusters says everything all ok, no engine lights, and the coolant level is middle of C and H.
Typical signs of water pump failure is coolant leaking but I can't seem to find a leaking area from everyday drive to work and back. Let me know!
I have about 65k miles on the car and its an 07 if that helps. is350

I actually was just asking my service adviser yesterday about water pumps and failure on the 250. I said what mileage do they typically get replaced? He said "They don't. Its going to take a very long time for that water pump to give out and it will only be a gasket change if you see a leak". I'm not sure I'm completely satisfied with that answer but apparently they do last a good deal of time. I'm at 92k on my 07 and have not had any issues or leaks.

Ah OK! Thanks guys! It's really weird though I usually fill it to the "full" mark and of course don't top it off. Its strange to hear it goes back to the halfway point between full and low after a drive. I guess I'll live with this for now and keep you guys updated if I find something strange. Thanks!

After reading plenty of posts on here about water pumps leaking and failing on here, I had mine checked the last time I was at the dealership. I could see a few drops at the bottom of the engine area. Sure enough...leaking at 78000 miles! They replaced the whold thing under my extended warranty. So glad I bought that as it's already paid for itself twice.

In the manual it says it should be between the full and low mark on the tank. I looked it up the other day to make sure.

I don't know what it is about the design of these 2IS engines, but they "push" coolant...no matter if the water pump and all of the mechanics of the car are fine. A NORMAL car, if topped off with the coolant to the FULL-mark, should not "push coolant out the cap or out the "secondary escape" hose. The trick is the find where the level should be where you don't get any EXCESSIVE coolant spewed all over.
BTW, the coolant cap also doesn't seal 100% because most members can see pink, crusty coolant around the lip.

Water pump *****
Just had my wifes 250 in for a water pump that **** out at 57k. Thank god it was under warranty, it would have been over 800. I probably would have swapped it myself. The pump shaft bearings were making alot of noise and some coolant was visable, but no overheating issues.
