Default LUX Package - Memory??

The Luxury Package (LT) includes the following:

- 18" Wheels
- Seats with Lexus Memory System
- HID Lights w/ AFS
- Dimming outside mirrors
- Power tilt sterring wheel
- Rain-Sensing wipers
- Power Sunshade
- Plus, everything in the Premium Plus Package (PT)
xx- Perforated Seats
xx- Heated / Ventilated Seats
xx- Wood Trim

My question is what exactly is the "Lexus memory system"? Does this mean that if I don't get the LT package, I won't have preset buttons for different seat positions? Or, does this have to do with the seat settings being automatically set according to the key that is in the car?

The memory system lets you set the seat in a couple of ways, such as if you had a second driver, or sit differently if someone is sitting behind you. Press one button and it remembers how you like your seat positioned.

It memorizes the seat height, forward-backward movement, seat angle, seatback angle, but not the lumbar position.

It also sets the mirrors to the memorized position. The Memory System is a nice thing to have if multiple people drive the car. I have one setting for around town driving, and one for freeway cruising.

When I got my car back from the 5k service the technicians had moved the seat to a different position, but one push of the button reset it to my memorized position. It's a nice to have option.

I agree - nice option to have. I'm just so used to it being a standard option in my cars. That is why I wanted to make certain I understood it. I'm suprised a feature like this isn't standard... especially in a car like LEXUS!!!

Also the memory system allows each fob to have preset seat position, steering wheel, radio station and mirrors

Lexus and their dealers are trying to maximize their profit, not minimize it. If the luxury package were reduced to a couple of ho-hum options like the rear window shade, nobody would be willing to shell out $3,495 for it.

Oh - I completely understand the "business" decision and the idea of making profit. Doesn't mean we have to like it, though. Plus, in my opinion a car of this calibur (Lexus) should have memory seats STANDARD. All the other options I can 100% understand they are an upgrade.

The IS series competes directly with the BMW 3 series and things like memory seats are expensive options on the Bimmer. Feature for feature the IS has far more standard content than the BMW's. Lexus would just have to raise the base price in order to offer the extra goodies like memory seats. It's all market driven and Lexus has done their homework and obviously decided not all buyers need/want memory seats.
