Ah, so 1600 has the fix for not locking satellites, but still has the override sequence intact? It's ashame the TSIB replacement disk doesn't use that version.

Apparently so. I think they got a little freaked out about owners knowing where the override is, so they decided to lock it down as often as possible. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there is a big push to get people to buy the new update nav discs too since the newer version also has the 1650 firmware with the override very well hidden.

Yup, got the 1600 version on mine (May 06 build date). Never had a problem and usually have a lock on at least 9 birds at all times . . .

I had the way ward GPS signal, but the service manager recalibrated my NAV and it's been spot on since, just lucky I guess. The updated firmware also retains your setting for outside or recirculated air when you turn power off.

As I said earlier, don't go by whether it is wayward or spot-on. Go by the little "GPS" indicator under the map scale. If the GPS indicator disappears without good reason (e.g. you are in an enclosed garage or a tunnel), you are still experiencing the problem and should seriously consider getting the updated software.

Absolutely, sorry that is what I meant. It was not picking up the GPS signal and now I grab at least eight satellites!

Just a side note: while getting my brake TSIB done, I've got an RX350 with Gen 5 nav. It has firmware 1550. It sucks rocks. Bad. Three birds in view, no GPS lock at all for many miles. I would be pissed if I had this crap too. Sure the dead reckoning is good, but when you drive 20 miles with an absolutely clear view of the sky and get NO GPS lock indication, you know this is crap.

Yes, the override works, and it sees (AT BEST) three birds. No more. This is lame as lame can be. I am SO glad my car came with 1600 firmware (06/06 build date).
