~Help, dropped something into engine
thanks guys for the response. Well basically I took it to a Toyota dealer where they ripped me off. But I didnt know what else to do. They had to remove the ECU and driver pulley in order to reach the items.
If they had to remove the driver pulley to retrieve the items they must have been really out of sight. Why do you think you got ripped off??
If that is where they fell, I would have just started the engine up. If the part near the pulley was "sucked in", it would have just stretched or broken the belt. However, my bet is that the tool would have just come out. Either way, it would have been much easier / cheaper.

DITTO
Well, they charged me $200 for 2 hours of labor. But if I were to do that, would lexus cover warranty? That all still sounds really risky. Cant it shoot out and maybe damage anything else around?
Well, the belt really isn't moving all that fast at idle, and it moves very slowly when cranking. If you were really nervouse about it, you could have just pulled your spark plugs and cranked it.
Thanks Gernby, now i know what to do haha. And on another note, Please do not go to Stockton Toyota. They have horrible service and are shady people. After they took out the dropped items, all the engine lights were showing. VDIM, Power steering, brake lights. They wanted to charge me more money, on top of the $200, to check out these problems. They blamed that the person who towed it here might have messed up the electronics. The tow person towed my car on the rear. Is there any way that this could affect the computer system? They made up stuff like, 1. While towing, the rotating wheels were adding up pressure and affected the computer. 2. You turned off the car while it was in neutral which threw the computer off. I argued with them for an hour and finally I left. Shortly after driving, all the lights turned off.
From page 319 of the owners manual:
NOTICE: To prevent serious damage to the transmission (for vehicles with an automatic transmission)
Never tow this vehicle from the front with the rear wheels on the ground. This may cause serious damage to the transmission.
I doubt it was responsible for the light show, but the Toyota dealer was not wrong to chastise you for towing that way.
