before anyone else asks, i will, and i mean this in the least condescending/mocking way.
do you know anything about tuning a car? ecu, piggyback, standalone, OBDI/II, etc...?
u realize u cant just plug ur laptop into ur car and start messing with stuff....
juss need to know where ur skill level is at so i can tailor my response accordingly.
As far as I know... you can't overwrite stuff on Toyota ECU's, unlike Hondas. You'd need a whole stand-alone engine management system to be able to tune it yourself using a laptop or something.
Of course, I don't know much on this subject, but hopefully someone will elaborate and confirm whether I was right or not.
well, see, that's the thing....i'm not asking for myself. i'm asking for my boyfriend. he does his own motor swapping, repairs, etc. and he's the one who's going to tune his cars. he was wondering what kind of computers would be reliable for that job.

depends what he wants to do with it, for mild tune i would throw a piggyback A/F computer on it and have it dyno tuned by a pro.
Apex'i SAFCII or Neo are popular choices, as are units made by Split-Second.
