Default new car?

Just a question...I heard from a friend that if you go into the dealer for the same problems 3 times they either pay you back or replace it with a new car. Is this true? Because I went to the dealership 3 times already cause my right headlight has been giving me problems. Anyone know if this is true?

hmm...I've always thought it would apply to something more serious than just a headlight (ie engine problems). Otherwise, people would be exchanging their cars for new ones because of rattles.

If it sounds to good to be true....it probably isn't. Your buddy is wrong.

Lemon Laws vary from state to state. In general the three times return for the same issue must be serious, have the car off the road for an extended period, and have the dealer failing to make the repair necessary to get you rolling again. Then you go to arbitration.......

Yes, this is absolutely correct. A friend of mine had a 2005 Nissan Altima. Head gasket blew at 20k. Dealer fixed Car. Car kept stalling. Back to the dealer several times for stalling. Dealer couldn't fix. 6 months of negotiating, they finally bought the car back. The point is, getting the dealer to buy the car back is going to be a long and tedious undertaking that will involve corporate officials. Good luck with the headlight.

I am going through a lemon lawsuit with my current car. The laws vary greatly from state to state. There are also mileage / time limits that these 3+ problems must occur in. some states have a "number of days in the shop" clause.
