Default Beeping When Closing Trunk

OK,

Several times now if I have the car locked and I open the trunk (via the keyless button on the trunk) the car will beep at me when I close the trunk back. One of those long sustained, "I'm having an issue with you!" type of beeps.

During the whole time I still have the key in my pocket, with no buttons being pressed on the key. It's starting to happen more frequently.

Any ideas what the car is trying to tell me??? It's starting to become annoying.

Cheers!

Kev

The long sustained beep is a warning. The only time it should do that, like others have mentioned, is if you've got a key inside the trunk and try and close it with the car still locked (i.e. you'd lock yourself out if it locked the trunk).

mine has made the same kind of sound with the key in my pocket and no other keys nearby many times. maybe you're standing close enough to the car that it thinks the key in your pocket is actually in the trunk?

Like everyone else said it could mean you have locked your key in the trunk. Do you know where your second FOB is? if you dont then look in the trunk.

That was my other thought... that the proximity sensor isn't quite calibrated correctly, and is picking up the key in your pocket and thinking it's in the trunk.

That must be it because the other key is in my safe at home and the key has been in my pocket every time this has happened.
